Robert E. Brunner is Executive Vice President of Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), a Fortune 200
diversified manufacturer of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables.
With $15.9 billion in revenues, ITW is a multinational manufacturer of a diversified range of
value-adding and short lead-time industrial products and equipment. The Company consists of 840
business units in 60 countries and employs some 60,000 people.
Professional Background
Mr. Brunner joined ITW in 1980 and has held various general management and sales roles. Prior to
his current position, he served as President of ITW's Global Automotive Fasteners Group. Additionally,
he was President of North American Automotive Fasteners, Vice President/General Manager of
Shakeproof/Anchor/Medalist Divisions and has held several operational, sales and marketing positions
within ITW. In 2006, he was named Executive Vice President for ITW�s Global Automotive Fasteners. In
2008 he became Executive Vice President for ITW's Construction businesses.
Educational Background
Mr. Brunner received a B.S. in Finance from the University of Illinois in 1979. He earned his Masters in
Business Administration (MBA) from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio in 1984.
Professional and Personal Affiliations
Mr. Brunner is a member of the Board of Directors of Leggett & Platt, Inc. and the National Association of
Manufacturers. He is a steering committee member of ITW Better Government Council. He is past Co-Chairman/Chairman
of ITW�s United Way National Campaign. He is also past board member of the Industrial Fastener Institute and past
chairman/vice chair of the Industrial Fastener Institute Automotive Division. He is a member of the American Society
of Mechanical Engineers B18 Fastener Consensus Standards Committee.
