Mark W. Croll is Vice President, Intellectual Property of Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW), a Fortune 200 diversified
manufacturer of highly engineered components and industrial systems and consumables. With $15.9 billion in revenues,
ITW is a multinational manufacturer of a diversified range of value-adding and short lead-time industrial products
and equipment. The Company consists of 840 business units in 60 countries and employs some 60,000 people.
Professional Background
Mr. Croll joined ITW in 1994 as Group Technology Counsel. He was named Vice President, Patents & Technology in 2000 and
Vice President, Intellectual Property in 2010. Mr. Croll is responsible for all intellectual property related activities
for ITW, including identifying, capturing and enforcing rights in proprietary new technology, coordinating with various
marketing groups on trademark and domain name registration and enforcement policy and proactively administering related
licensing activities. Prior to his employment at ITW, Mr. Croll had varying legal responsibilities in both corporate and
private practice.
Educational Background
He holds a J.D. degree from DePaul University College of Law and a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Bucknell University.
Professional and Personal Affiliations
Mr. Croll is a member of the Board of Directors for Center for Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology of
DePaul University College of Law. He is a past board member of the Intellectual Property Owners Association. He is
President of the WYC Youth Foundation.
