David C. Parry

Vice Chairman

David C. Parry is Vice Chairman of Illinois Tool Works Inc. (NYSE: ITW) which is a Fortune 200 global diversified industrial manufacturer. The Company�s value-added consumables, equipment and service businesses serve customers in developed as well as emerging markets around the globe. ITW�s key business platforms, including welding, automotive OEM, industrial packaging, food equipment, construction, polymers and fluids, test and measurement, electronics, decorative surfaces and automotive aftermarket, employ more than 60,000 people worldwide. ITW�s revenues totaled $15.9 billion in 2010, with more than half of these revenues generated outside of the United States.

Mr. Parry spent 17 years working for an International Chemical Manufacturer in various commercial and general management roles, including several that were based in Asia, Europe and the USA. This included President of a Joint Venture between the UK and Japan. His management experience covered a broad spectrum of businesses from turn-around, mature, to rapid growth based on product innovation and start-ups. Mr. Parry joined ITW in 1994 as General Manager of the Devcon business. After several roles of increasing responsibility, he was appointed President in 2004 of the Performance Polymers Group, a worldwide adhesive and sealant formulation platform with 32 operating units. He was named Executive Vice President in 2006 with responsibility for the Global Polymers and Fluids Businesses. He was instrumental in growing the Polymers and Fluids Business through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions which today represents approximately 11% of the total company revenues. In 2010, Mr. Parry was elected to the position of Vice Chairman. He now has responsibility for the Welding, Test and Measurement, Construction and Electronics Groups, as well as Strategic Sourcing for the company.

Mr. Parry obtained his B.S.C. in Chemistry in 1974, a Masters in Polymer Chemistry in 1975 and a Ph.D. in Chemistry in 1977 at the Victoria University of Manchester, Manchester, England.

Mr. Parry is currently a member of the Executive Club of Chicago. He is also on the Board of Trustees for The Field Museum of Chicago. Mr. Parry is a past director of the Adhesive and Sealants Council Board of Directors and past President of the Hamilton Wenham Youth Soccer Association. In 2008 and 2009 he was the co- chair of ITW�s United Way Campaign.
