Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions

Across all ITW’s businesses, we are continuously looking for ways to improve our environmental performance. Consistent with our commitment to continuous improvement in reducing our environmental impact, ITW has established a company-wide greenhouse gas emissions intensity reduction target.

By 2027, ITW set a target to reduce its combined Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions per U.S. dollar of operating revenue by 20 percent below 2017 levels.

Our approach to these reductions will be focused on two primary areas:

1. Reducing energy consumption and improving operational efficiency in our manufacturing and ITW-owned facilities, implemented in accordance with our division-led environmental management systems;
2. Expanding our purchase of energy from renewable sources, including wind and solar, across our global footprint where possible.

At ITW, we believe business can play a role in supporting environmental sustainability, and our company-wide commitment shows our dedication to that belief. We will continue to measure, manage and reduce the environmental footprint of our operations and products and to work today for a better tomorrow.
